Supporting Sustainability through Eco-Friendly actions
-
We aim to reduce energy consumptions throughout the operations of our business and encouraging the same in our designs and consultations.
To encourage efficiency in early stages of our projects, we implement effective planning, programming and scheduling of all aspects of the build - making it more possible for us to reduce our carbon footprint.
Ultimately, we raise awareness of ‘Embodied and Operational Carbon’ through our consultations and training which encourages collaboration amongst ourselves and stakeholders.
-
In fit out projects, aesthetics is one of the major concerns. We understand that although the world is shifting towards being more sustainable but; if you are paying for a new fit out, you want your building to look brand-new.
At Bellewood, we pride ourselves in being innovative in the way we design our works, so that we can find the right balance to this approach.
We also recognise that there may be instances where we cannot retain many existing items; therefore we encourage ourselves and our supply chain to donate any reusable items to the local community to increase their lifespan.
-
We have established a structured recycling program to enhance waste recycling at our construction sites.
Our operational and site teams, and anyone else involved in our business are encouraged to segregate different types of waste. This practice helps in refining our waste collection and recycling initiatives - minimising contamination and boosting efficiency.
For waste generated from construction and Strip out, we collaborate closely with local waste management facilities. This partnership is vital to ensure that recyclable materials are processed and managed in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Additionally, we stress the significance of recycling waste materials within our team. By increasing awareness of the environmental advantages, we promote higher participation and adherence, resulting in a more eco-friendly construction site.
-
We always explore the possibility to repair any broken or damaged items instead of discarding them. This not only helps in value Engineering of project, but also helps extend lifespan of existing products.
To do this, we actively collaborate with our supply-chain, consultants, engineers and clients to explore whether there is possibility to retain items which are bespoke to the building itself. In doing so, we are able to suggest adaptations to design and the construction plan which encourages reduction of environmental impacts of sourcing new items and promotes sustainability whilst building customer loyalty and appreciation of value of craftsmanship.
-
The main focus of this practice helps foster a culture of mindful decision making.
Simply put, refusing to purchase or consume unnecessary or unsustainable products encourages Bellewood and its associated workforce to critically assess the their supply-chain, production processes and partnerships and encourage decisions against use of products, vendors, or methods that lead to ecological damage.
-
We are committed to embracing a strategic, long-term perspective on sustainability by critically examining conventional methods. We push ourselves and our supply chain to move beyond the belief that growth has to negatively impact environmental well-being. This mindset fosters creativity and the development of novel approaches to reduce resource consumption and incorporate circular economy principles.
By monitoring and learning from our own practices and practices of other construction firms, we are able to improve and implement better practices within our business and its operations.
A Whole System approach
Instead of concentrating only on specific aspects like energy efficiency or material choices, we optimise all interconnected elements such as environmental, social, and economic factors as well as different components of the build to achieve maximum sustainability as a whole system.
-
We spend valuable time to adapt our designs to suit the needs of end-users. We encourage cross-functional collaboration between all multidisciplinary teams which helps establish touchpoints to provide a cohesive user experience.
For sustainability and ethical practical practice, we encourage responsible decisions when assessing implications of our work including the our material procurement strategies and manufacturing processes.
-
We encourage all stakeholders to form an alliance when identifying and implementing sustainability solutions and by sharing our knowledge and encouraging others to do the same, we are able to implement and innovate best practices in our operations.
Our collaborative approach with our suppliers and subcontractors further promotes our sustainability strategy.
-
Our focus is build a legacy of driving positivity in the communities that we work in.
We passion for construction and building this legacy means we will encourage involvement of communities in our projects and follow practices such as hiring local workforce, resourcing local materials and enhancing social cohesion to boost the local economy.
