The ultimate responsibility for ensuring that compliance, implementation and enforcement of H&S Act 1974 lies with our Managing Director.

Our managers have the responsibility of application of our H&S protocols. In doing so, our managers must ensure co-ordination and co-operation between the company and anyone that works for us. The managers will play a vital role in ensuring adequate resources are available for our workers, arrange training, engage in active communication and supervision to ensure competence across the board.

Our H&S consultants will keep our company updated with any changes to legislations, audit our compliance and set clear road map for positive changes to our practices. They will offer training, feedback and performance reviews for each of our employees, managers and the company as a whole.

Our employees and partners have a duty to assist and co-operate with Bellewood Limited and any other person to ensure all aspects of health and safety legislation are adhered to. They are obliged to follow all safety rules and policies, inform and raise concerns about risks ad hazards efficiently. They also have the duty to attend training, practice safe working procedures and only perform works which they are qualified for.

Shared & Individual Responsibilities

Planning for everything is in our nature. As a principal contractor, we under our responsibility in the preparation and maintenance of secured contracts Health and Safety documentation.

All of our managers and supervisors shall co-ordinate the activities of all operatives to ensure compliance with our Construction Phase Plan including contract Health and Safety requirements and legislation. We will also check on the provisions of information and training of all employees, where appropriate, as well as subcontractor’s health and safety when appointed.

Our protocol is straightforward;

  • Develop and maintain a CDM 2015 compliant Construction Phase Plan

  • Through on-site management to ensure that every contractor complies with the rules set out in the health and safety plan.

  • Ensure co-operation between all contractors and people involved in our operations

  • Taken steps to ensure that only authorised persons are allowed onto the construction site area.

  • Ensure that the particulars of the F10 Notification are displayed in a prominent location on the site where they can be read by any person working on the project

  • Keep up-to-date any information required to go into the health and safety file

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations and The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations

  • Monitor and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with approved/agreed Risk Assessments and Method Statements and ensure that staff and sub-contractors are appropriately qualified/certified to carry out the work;

  • Undertake regular site inspection and feed forward to regular toolbox talks with contract staff and sub-contractors.

  • Manage the interface between the construction and the site operations to ensure minimum disruption to operations.
